Molecular level characterisation of dissolved organic matter for improved water treatment

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Chemistry

Abstract

This project aims at studying molecular composition of DOM in Scottish freshwater sources, their detection, effect on water treatment processes, and their removal. It is collaboration between three schools in our College and Scottish Water. This research falls directly into the EPSRC "Living with Environmental Change (LWEC)" theme and covers the following Research Priority Areas: (i) analytical science, (ii) chemical structure and (iii) water engineering (designated growing area).
