Abstract

collaborating company (approx. 50% funding): M-squared lasers

Feeding directly into the research agenda of our Quantum Imaging Hub (QuantIC) this project will use shortwave infrared imaging for the detection and visualisation of gases released into the atmosphere.

The imaging technology will comprise both focal plane array and single pixel imaging technique, both relying upon active illumination of the scene using laser diodes similar to those used in communication systems. In addition sophisticated image processing techniques will be applied to the data for both noise reduction and image overlay.

The project will be in close collaboration with the industrial team include system development and evaluation, both in laboratory and real-life settings.
