Holographic generalised global symmetries

Lead Research Organisation: Durham University
Department Name: Mathematical Sciences

Abstract

Global symmetries based on higher-form currents, associated with the conservation of densities of extended objects, have been recently argued to provide a powerful new general tool for analysing field theories. The project will consider the holographic realisation of such symmetries, applying this to study the extension of fluid-gravity to magnetohydrodynamics and using this to study the effects of anomalies in the presence of dynamical electromagnetic fields.
