Sensor Fusion and Data Processing

Lead Research Organisation: University of Manchester
Department Name: Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Abstract

Gait analysis is a study to analyse different walking behaviours. These behaviours change on the basis of age, weight, height and gender in humans. Along with the biometric verifications, gait analysis is widely used in medical and health care applications.
The main emphasis of the research is to investigate the use of appropriate data processing methods to distinguish data obtained from the floor sensing system and sensors on the human body. Raw data obtained from all these sensors will be fused to analyse human activities. This technique could also be used to monitor human neurological, skeletal or muscular disorders.

Description Working on this research i have analysed explored the spatio-temporal data of human gait from floor sensors at The University of Manchester. I have also developed an ambulatory inertial sensor system to monitor and acquire human gait activities. I am researching and designing unique ways of sensor fusion across different modalities.
Exploitation Route Funding can be taken to allow users to collect, process and analyse gait data obtained from floor sensors and wearable inertial sensors.
