How does DNA damage alter nuclear mRNA export in humans?

Lead Research Organisation: University of Sheffield
Department Name: Molecular Biology and Biotechnology

Abstract

Human cells regulate which mRNAs are exported from the nucleus to the cytoplasm in response to DNA damage. In this project you will use computational and molecular biology approaches to provide a genome wide view of how mRNA export changes in response to DNA damage. The project will utilise a range of cutting edge techniques including high throughput DNA sequencing, CRISPR and RNA interference to dissect the biological process. Training in both computational and molecular biology techniques will be provided ensuring the student is fully prepared for 21st century quantitative biology.
