Abstract
Research Questions
Answering the following research questions would help form the framework and make it more sophisticated and adapted to the needs of the UK:
What is the current mindset of the industry?
What is stopping companies from currently going chlorine free?
What changes would industry leaders need to see before they will consider it?
How can the framework be adapted to cater for these demands and satisfy industry leaders?
What are the different steps which are involved in making water treatment chemical free and how can they be compared?
Can chemical free water be achieved using technology at a household level, rather than at a treatment works?
How can this research form the basic structure for the framework?
What are the best practices of companies worldwide that have gone (or started to go) chemical free?
The framework needs to incorporate them- how can this best be achieved?
How can the different methods of treating water without chemicals be applied to different industry challenges because of the variations in water quality between them?
In particular in the Anglian Water region
What alterations in the methodology would be required?
Can a trial be completed at a water treatment works to test the framework and see if chemical-free water actually is an achievable aim?
What would be an appropriate scale and location to complete this?
