Utilising environmental conditions to control memristor operation

Lead Research Organisation: University of Southampton
Department Name: Electronics and Computer Science

Abstract

The effect of environmental factors such as temperature and humidity on the behaviour of memristors is to be investigated and quantified. This data will then be first adapted into a method for measuring the environmental conditions present around a memristor using the memristor's behaviour. This will subsequently be extended to designing a method of controlling a memristor's behaviour using the environmental conditions, with the over all aim of implementing global control over a memristor network.

Description A study into the impact of temperature on titanium oxide based memristors has been undertaken, and it has been discovered that temperature affects both the static and switching behaviour of these devices.
Exploitation Route The deployment of the devices studied in this project will involve applications where the temperature of the devices will vary during operation. Understanding how these variations may affect performance, and need to be compensated for.
