String Compactifications on Calabi-Yau and SU(3) Structure Manifolds

Abstract

This project consists of two major parts. The first part is concerned with Calabi-Yau compactifications, mainly of the heterotic string, and is aiming at systematic searches of promising vacua using advanced computational methods, such as genetic algorithms and machine learning techniques.
The second part deals with string compactifications beyond Calabi-Yau manifolds, specifically focusing on manifolds with SU(3) structure. Its main aim is to construct classes of such manifolds which can be used for string compactifications and to analyse the phenomenology of these compactifications.
