Description Improved understanding of the specific role of online technologies in the context of sex trafficking in Scotland and, more broadly, the UK. Based on the findings from qualitative interviews with currently serving detectives, a specific methodology was designed to meet the operational need of current investigators.
Exploitation Route There is clear applicability of the ancitipated outcomes for law enforcement and other agencies responding to harms, specifically in relation to complex social phenomena with an online dimension. The current methodology can be formalised into a more accessible software. Other findings also reinforce the need for a public health approach to exploitation in the sex market (and beyond) and the need for improved migration policy to allow for legal migration channels and access to labour markets.
