Health Informatics and Systems Analysis of Healthcare Services

Lead Research Organisation: University of Warwick
Department Name: WMG

Abstract

The project will look at techniques and interoperable ICT infrastructures, enabling the use of data analytics, to understand, predict and optimise delivery of healthcare. The context of the research encompasses the healthcare service overall, but also individual elements, such as clinical decision support, and quality metrics. The research will focus on investigation of new analytics techniques, as well as integration of advanced techniques in current and future ICT infrastructure in healthcare. Ultimately, this will support provision of effective patient centric care. The project is relevant to all 3 healthcare GRPs, with most relevance to the early diagnosis and treatment, as well as the healthy ageing GRPs. The data analytics techniques and ICT can provide opportunities to integrate new sources of data to tackle diseases, as well as improve the mining of existing datasets, resulting in more effective clinical decisions. The project is also expected to contribute to the HDRUK project that IDH is participating in, and support further research exploitation of the H2020 C3-Cloud project, IDH is currently coordinating. This project alligns with EPSRC research topics around Healthcare Technologies
