A bio-psycho-social model of weight development in infancy

Lead Research Organisation: University College London
Department Name: Epidemiology and Public Health

Abstract

Kristiane's PhD research focuses on exploring genetic, social, and behavioural risk factors for weight development across infancy. She uses data from the Gemini Twin Study to better understand how socioeconomic, behavioural, and genetic factors are related to and interact with one another to shape weight development right from the very start of life. Across her PhD, Kristiane will explore how infant feeding methods, socioeconomic standing, and genetic propensity contribute to and interact with one another to influence rapid weight development in infancy. She will use these insights to inform a novel digital intervention to support parents and healthy infant weight development in the first two years of life, in partnership with Best Beginnings Mobile App 'Baby Buddy'.
