Investigating Meaningful Making in Communities of People Living with Brain Injury

Lead Research Organisation: Swansea University
Department Name: College of Science

Abstract

The PhD will build on an existing collaboration to address questions that have emerged from that process. The current collaboration between the ABMU and Computer Science at Swansea has worked to evidence the potential of the concept and has been successful winning support from a range of small NHS and CHERISH:DE grants. The initial work developed a joint-methodology that uses computer science design concepts as the basis for a therapeutic process that benefits rehabilitation and wellbeing of community dwelling people with acquired brain injuries (ABI).

This PhD project will be an evaluation and refinement of the exchange and merger of skills between neuro-rehabilitation and design experts. Specific skills shared include making abilities, large data analysis techniques, neurorehabiliative approaches and a range of approaches to assessing wellbeing derives from Positive Psychology.
