Finitely-generated modules over special biserial algebras: a combinatorial model using strips and belts

Lead Research Organisation: University of Bristol
Department Name: Mathematics

Abstract

Combinatorial algebraic geometry is the study of varieties with a combinatorial structure. Tropical varieties form an important part of this field. Due to combinatorial tools, such varieties play an important role in commutative algebra, algebraic geometry and combinatorics. This project concerns the study of tropicalisation of varieties and their degenerations into toric varieties and exploring further connections with cluster algebra, and theoretical physics, with a view towards applications in statistics.
