Capturing and understanding the complexities of the treatment and recovery processes in adults with severe anorexia nervosa using a novel qualitative

The proposed study is a longitudinal qualitative
research project, in which a novel audio and text-based
smartphone diary app will be used to gather data on the
experiences, thoughts, and feelings of people receiving
treatment for severe anorexia nervosa (AN). The project will
be embedded within the forthcoming DAISES trial, a NIHR
HTA funded randomised controlled trial (RCT) designed to
compare the effectiveness of prolonged in-patient treatment
for adults with severe AN with a stepped care approach,
where participants are discharged into day treatment
