Abstract
This project will explore the effects of clothing design and materials technology to investigate the potential effects on metaboloic consumption. In the modern world where there is a focus on health and well being there is a desire for healthy lifestyles and weight management. Of the known barriers to exercise time limitations is key.
The proposal in this project is that functional clothing can be used to increase metabolic consumption whilst conducting normal activities. This would enhance calorific consumption and in turn weight loss.
The proejct will include a scoping study to evaluate market need and possible opportunities. Survey participants will then be used to co design a range of products. This range of designs will then be evaluated to measure their effects on metabolic rate for different activities of normal daily life.
