Exploring the long term educational and health outcomes of babies born late preterm/early term in Wales

Lead Research Organisation: Swansea University
Department Name: Institute of Life Science Medical School

Abstract

The studentship aims to increase knowledge and understanding of children born later pre-term by exploring electronic anonymised data. Georgina will undertake a systematic review and qualitative research to understand how being born later preterm may impact on children in later life before utilising SAIL data to explore specific health and developmental outcomes.

The qualitative work is likely to be with NHS clinicians- this may not require NHS REC but will need Swansea University Medical School ethics approval. Any interviews will be carried out on University or NHS premises. The student will be made aware of lone worker policies (If appropriate).

Information Governance Review Panel approval will be sought to undertake the anonymised linked data work within SAIL.
