Creative Futures - Re-imagining creative education and digital learning in Shetland through collaborative creative practice

Lead Research Organisation: Glasgow School of Art
Department Name: Research & Enterprise

Abstract

In partnership with Shetland Arts Development Agency (SADA), the Creative Futures project aims to inspire "innovation from tradition". It will bring together young people, local communities, and practitioners, including craft makers in Shetland to reimagine place-based creative education and digital learning with a focus on cultural narratives. The doctoral candidate will develop and deliver practice-based engagement activities and digital interventions to share and develop knowledge with a range of participants and stakeholders. Creative Futures will explore ways that youth participation in creative practice could be sustained and increased; ways to interface traditional craft practices with digital technologies; and ways that creative engagement can inspire and inform a long-term engagement strategy to benefit Shetland's creative economy.
