Investigation of the spatial and temporal variability of Surface water groundwater interactions in Ziway-Shalla Lake basin: integrated approach Centra
Lead Research Organisation:
Newcastle University
Department Name: Sch of Engineering
Abstract
The main objective of this research is locating and quantifying the connection between surface water and groundwater at multiple spatial and temporal scales and compute the water budget of the lakes.
* Determine the isotopic signature and characteristics of water samples collected from various sources, such as from lakes, rivers, groundwater wells (shallow and deep) and springs,
* Determine and map groundwater discharge zones (Transition zones),
* Quantify the amount of groundwater flux into the lakes and determine the specific factors controlling surface water groundwater exchange,
* Computing the water budget of the lakes.
