Cataloguing, Interpreting, and Curating the UK National Trust's Collections of Ancient Greek Vases

Abstract
Across multiple properties, the National Trust (NT) holds ancient Greek vases of Corinthian, Attic, South Italian, Boeotian, and Cypriot fabrics, dating from the Geometric to Hellenistic periods (c.900-300 BC). Although British vase-collecting has been studied, the NT's vases have not been researched bar brief valuations and cursory descriptions or mentions. Due to the sheer volume of objects the NT holds, it is also not always aware of where and what Greek vases it has. The first part of the project will therefore locate and catalogue these vases.
