Abstract
Insulation foams are ubiquitous in the construction sector, with applications in cavity wall, under-floor, and roof insulation. Whilst insulation foams have provided enormous benefit to heat efficiency, there is much work to do before a viable circular economy is attained. Foams have a lifetime lasting decades, but eventually the material must be recovered and disposed of.
This project will develop a method to chemically recycle insulation foam into useful chemicals that can either be used to prepare new foam blocks, or else used elsewhere in the chemical industry.
