Development of a next-generation DNA synthesis platform
Lead Participant:
NUCLERA LTD
Abstract
Nuclera Nucleics Ltd is a Cambridge-based biotech start-up transforming the life sciences
through the development of a next generation DNA synthesis platform. Nuclera was founded
by four enterprising scientists determined to improve the slow and expensive process of
obtaining long pieces of biologically relevant DNA. Through our novel, biologically-inspired
technology we aim to furnish the life science community with rapid access to high accuracy,
long DNA products such as plasmids and synthetic genomes made in the UK. This surge in
pipeline efficiency will expand research horizons and help bring life-saving drugs to the
global market faster.
Building on a Smart Proof of Concept project where we established the power of our novel
technology, we must now optimise and scale-up our process to approach commercial
production. Key to achieving this goal is the development of a prototype for the automation of
our technology, which will be the cornerstone of our commercial instrumentation. A more
refined process and increased production capability will enable Nuclera to more swiftly meet
the growing market need for long strands of DNA. With our innovative synthesis platform
and rapid development trajectory, we aim to establish Nuclera as the premium UK-based
provider of long DNA strands worldwide.
