City Farm Systems' award winning concept is ready to move to the next stage and help is needed to integrate the sensing technology with management systems to maximise the potential. Rather than seek incremental improvement along supply chains we simply remove several costly links. Without the need for day to day access to the growing environment the most perishable and hardest to transport crops can be grown at the point of retail. By enabling the growing of larger quantities of high quality organic produce our systems outperform current high cost intensive farming methods. Current salad growers pay for heat and CO2, transport and related packaging then deliver to customers who pay to dump heat and CO2. We can show a large supermarket has the equivalent of a 500 acre farm lying idle next door. Worse still they are paying for most of the energy needed to make it productive - and paying to get rid of huge quantities of packaging we don't need.
