Description Through this grant we have assembled a diversity panel of over 150 rice accessions including commercial varieties, land races, and breeding material used in Vietnam. These lines have been genotyped to provide a high density map of single nucleotide polymorphisms to enable genome wide association studies for biomass quality and composition. We have also undertaken studies to underpin biorefining and processing of fuels and other chemiocals from rice straw.
Exploitation Route The work in this project was rather preliminary in nature and is being followed up on in a second Partnering Award in collaboration with our coleagues in Vietnam. The work has not yet reached a stage where it can be published.
