Description | A workshop was held in Lanzhou, China, consisting of scientific representatives from The Roslin Institute, The Pirbright Institute and Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute. UK scientists travelled to China in October 2012 to discuss projects relating to foot-and-mouth-disease virus, specifically: 1) There are many great opportunities to collaborate across the three sites - Lanzhou, Roslin and Pirbright 2) Opportunities for population level sequencing of FMDV isolates 3) Comparing viruses across multiple host species 4) Sharing of expertise in bioinformatics, genomics and virology The workshop occurred over two days and consisted of presentations from partners and discussion afterwards. The workshop was successful in that it happened and was useful. However, the practicalities of working on FMDV in China are that it's very difficult and a politically sensitive issue |
