Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.
Description | A series of meeting were set up between the UK and Indian groups. Through discussions we have been able to submit a grant application to the InovateUK-DST call for Indian/UK funding. Discussions are still taking place to investigate other possible routes for collaborative funding based on process development and exploitation of microorganisms for bio-processing. Currently the Indian partners are sorting out the required paper work to allow transport and utilization of said microbes in the UK. 2017 Meetings in both India and the UK have lead to new collaborations, including bringing in new UK and Indian partners, resulting funding applications to Newton Fund UK-India Waste Challenge 2017, Global Challenge Research Fund and applications for PhD placements. In 2018, the consortium partners, Aberystwyth, Gayatri Group and SCIR (Indian Institute of Chemical Technology) were successful in securing additional funding from the Newton UK- Waste Challenge, lead by Aberystwyth. This new consortium includes other academic and industrial partners. |
Exploitation Route | This partner award will help drive collaborations to integration UK and Indian technologies to develop processes and innovation in the area of biorefining, particularly in the valorisation of waste. The route to market will initially be via the companies within the consortium which are end users but also part of the supply chain. |
