Description Multiple projects were funded across Lancaster University by this award, which allowed researchers to carry out some critical research to refine experimental techniques, gather preliminary data and/or support networking/research visits/workshops to support of the development of proposals for new research funding opportunities. The projects included:
- Biological signals in the soil
- Evaluating wheat physiological responses to agrivoltaics
- Developing an international research partnership with the Life Sciences Centre at Vilnius University
- Towards a better integration of invertebrate host-microbe omics and modelling approaches in Europe

Results and Impact The establishment of a trans-mediterranean zoonosis prevention surveillance network that can provide knowledge, methods and intelligence to prevent the transboundary spread of zoonosis and infectious diseases along the Mediterranean basin and to the North of Europe.

A multidisciplinary team of experts (vector-borne diseases, zoonosis, climate change, ecology, one-health and modelling) and stakeholders (Government of Sardinia, Health and environmental services, Transboundary authorities services) from Europe, Africa, Asia and Americas were invited to participate in a 5 days of intensive networking, grant and review preparation.

Network establishment. We have established a network of 20 institutions from 11 different countries. All partners agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding that is currently in preparation.
