| Description | This project helped develop a new network between Brazilian and UK partners committed to work on new research in the area of sustainable soil management. Significant expertise exists in both countries to develop synergistic proposals for new research in the area of soil health. These new projects will generate the data to support a change in agricultural practice based on more sustainable approaches i.e. less intensive cultivation, less fertiliser inputs and greater retention of soil organic matter |
| Exploitation Route | there is enormous potential for collaboration between soil and plant scientists in the UK and Brazil. Many widely adopted practices in Brazil such as zero tillage and use of cover crops are only now being realized in the UK. There is considerable scope for further collaboration. |

| Description | Our partners at UFRA in Belem have extensive linkages with local NGOs and smallholder farmers. Our networking grant allowed us the opportunity to meet with them and share our thoughts on how best to manage organic residues and protect soil structure. |
