Description Several new antibiotic-producing soil bacteria have been isolated from extreme environments in NW China. Antibiotics are currently being purified for structural and activity analyses.
Exploitation Route Any novel antibiotics with promising activities could be taken further by the pharmaceutical industry for eventual medical use.

PI Contribution Following the end of the China partnering award, the research collaboration has continued. Prof Dyson visited Lanzhou in spring 2017 to write a paper that was submitted and accepted for publication by PLoS Genetics. Additional collaborative research is currently underway.
