| Description | The partnering award supported interactions between Prof ZHOU Rui's lab at Huazhong Agricultural University and Cambridge University Dept Vet Medicine. Specifically it enabled to preparation of a subsequent research grant proposal for the currently open UK-China AMR Partnership Initiative (Newton / MRC). It also supported the successful funding of "Program for Innovative Global Prevention of Streptococcus suis", a E5m consortium award from Horizon 2020 in 2017, with E1.03m awarded to Cambridge supporting a collaboration with Huazhong including study of mixed respiratory infection in context of S. suis. |

| Description | The PI (Dr Tucker) was invited to give a lecture to approx. 2000 pig veterinarians at the Wuhan Pig Veterinary Conference, 2013, on the subject of Diagnosis and Management of Streptococcus suis Disease. This infection is a major issue in China and contributes to the wide scale dependence of pig production on in-feed antibiotics use in that country. |
