Description We discovered that the gene network that promotes repair after CNS injury has been evolutionarily conserved between flies and mammals.

PI Contribution My postdoctoral researcher Dr Kentaro Kato - employed by a BBSRC grant to work with me in Birningham - travelled to Riken for 2 months to perform experiments in Prox1 knock-out mice in the lab of Dr Fumio Matusaki. This was to investigate the function of Prox1 in the oligodendrocyte cell lineage.
Collaborator Contribution The partner - Dr Fumio Matzusaki - provided the Prox1 knock-out mice, carried out the genetics to generate the conditional knock-outs prior to Dr Kato's visit, and provided assistance with the experiments.
Impact The work is currently in preparation as a manuscript to be submitted for publication in the next few months.
