Abstract

Description A successful international workshop has been held on 2-4 November 2015 at National Cheng-Chi University (NCCU), Taiwan. It has achieved the original plan to assemble the relevant researchers and scientists in the multidisciplinary area of bioenergy and innovation to advance the research on innovation and bioenergy.

Several key developments have resulted from the activities, so far, of this award:-

(1) A research proposal has been submitted to Royal Society/Newton Advanced fellowship 2016/R2 "Study of genotype and environment (GxE) interaction in the bioenergy crop Miscanthus" (value: £105,500).
(2) Propose to joint PhD supervision between IBERS, Aberystwyth University and NCCU to develop a case study of bioenergy and innovation for MBA study at NCCU.
(3) A signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Aberystwyth University, UK and National Cheng-Chi University, Taiwan on 10 November 2015 to provide a platform for sustainable research collaboration.

Further development of grant proposals to EU, BBSRC and Leverhulme Trust are under discussion in the area of greenhouse gas (GHG) modelling, applying innovation methodologies on bioenergy, and using innovation to address global challenge etc. The output and results will be reported regularly after this grant ends 17 May 2016.
Exploitation Route The findings resulted from this award will create international synergy to collaborate in the area of innovation and bioenergy research. Data from the collaboration can be shared and further integrated and analysed. It is anticipated that the articles/results resulted from this award will be published in open access journals and data will be deposited into public information repository to be further used by others.
