Description One systematic review has been completed on personality as a tool to improve captive animal group composition. This review identified key gaps in literature across a very broad range of species from insects to mammals. It considered what we already understand about the use of personality in captive environments, what is the cutting edge of our knowledge on personality and welfare in natural groups in the wild, and how we can apply this learning back to captive environments.
Exploitation Route We will be submitting a paper for publication soon, highlighting evidence-based recommendations and key gaps in knowledge. Outcomes from this could be used to influence how groups of captive animals are composed to improve animal welfare and potentially productivity and performance.
