Kachroo P (2021) An Emerging Role for Chloroplasts in Disease and Defense in Annual Review of Phytopathology

Description The ongoing work has revealed a key role for the chloroplast in systemic immunity and these concepts were articulated in a high profile review on in Annual Review of plant pathology in 2021. Covid has restricted international travel but we have identified a number of early SAR signals that may shed light on how SAR established broad spectrum immunity to insects, viruses, fungi, oomycetes and bacteria. disc than first thought.
Exploitation Route Further characterisation of the active signalling molecules and their effacacy on a range of crops may lead to a significant research application related to sustainable agriculture.
We have been funded by NSF/BBSRC; BB/X013049/1 "Anatomy and functions of LTP interactomes and their relationship to small RNA signals in systemic acquired resistance to continue this work.
