Abstract
The process developed in EPSRC grant GR/S67470 ('Investigation of the mechanism and kinetics of Reversible Addition Fragmentation chain Transfer (RAFT) polymerisation: Toward the design of highly versatile RAFT agents') will allow the production of new polymerisation mediators that can be recovered and re-used after reaction, and permit the production of polymers of controlled functionality and predictable molecular weight - `designer polymers'. The polymeric products obtained through the use of such mediators will be exploited in partnership with industries in a variety of commercial applications, from bulk polymer production to healthcare and personal care products.
