Abstract
Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description | We have published four high-profile papers in Chemical Science, JACS (2) and Angewandte Chemie. We have submitted two further papers to Angewandte Chemie and Advanced Materials. In the latter manuscript, we show how to occlude ~500 nm diameter oil droplets within calcite. This is a remarkable achievement and we have filed an initial patent application with the University of Sheffield. As a result of this IP, P & G has agreed to partly-fund a CDT PhD studentship in this area to investigate whether this new technology may have potential commercial applications. |

Title | Dataset for 'Controlling the fluorescence and room-temperature phosphorescence behaviour of carbon nanodots with inorganic crystalline nanocomposites' |
Description | Dataset for Tuning Room-Temperature Phosphorescence from Carbon Dots in Inorganic Crystalline Nanocomposites. Carbon dots are occluded in calcite single crystal hosts and analysed by confocal microscopy, pXRD, SS-PL, phosphorescence spectroscopy, video stroboscopy, time-resolved phosphorescence microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, SEM, FLIM and quantitative analysis. The activation of room-temperature phosphorescence was demonstrated, and the control of the host over photoluminescent behaviour in CDs was explored. The dataset shown here was published in a paper with the same title. |

Title | Dataset for Dichroic Calcite Reveals the Pathway from Additive Binding to Occlusion |
Description | Dataset for all results concerning the occlusion for linear dyes in calcite, particularly that of Congo red. This includes photographs, micrographs and absorbance spectra. This data was used to show that linear dyes incorporate in an oriented way, such that their absorbance, and therefore colour, relates to the orientation of the crystal with respect to the plane of polarised light. |
