Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Description We have discovered novel modes of packing of deformable cyclic polymers including nesting and stacking. We have also formed arrays of cyclic polymers on insulating surfaces in collaboration withe our collaborators in Oxford.

In addition we have, together with theorists, identified new modes of packing of deformable cyclic polymers which results in a coupling of molecular deformation and packing symmetry.
Exploitation Route The cyclic polymers, and their controlled organisation could be used as templates to control the trapping of other materials and potentially spatially confined chemical reactions.
