Description Spin-orbit transitions and orbital driven transitions in 3d compounds
Organisation Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Country China
Sector Academic/University
PI Contribution Our group in Edinburgh has been developing a spin-orbit exciton formalism to understand the neutron cross section in 3d transition metal compounds where an orbital transition exists. We are currently applying this theory and computer code to data and results from chopper spectrometers, particularly those at Rutherford Labs.
Collaborator Contribution Our colleagues in China have contributed samples and also thermodynamic characterizaiton.
Impact We have been awarded neutron time for this collaboration and will begin measurements in the summer of 2021.
Start Year 2020
