Description The project conducted a unique survey of ethnic minority political participation, which has become that most authoritative study of this topic in Britain and has been highly cited and influential. The key findings covered electoral registration, voting behaviour, and non-electoral participation. The porject was rated 'Outstanding' by the ESRC and led to a major book 'The Political Integration of Ethnic Minorities in Britain', published by Oxford Univesity Press.
Exploitation Route The findings from the study have been widely used by academics, policy makers, think tanks and political parties.

Description Findings have been used by political parties in order to understand how better to appeal to ethnic minority voters; by third sector organizations in order to help get out the vote, by journalists in order to understand patterns of minority political affiliation; and by academics in order to advance knowledge.

Gemma Rosenblatt, the head of research at the Commission, has been a full member of the research team, suggesting questions for inclusion in the survey reflecting in particular the Commission's interest in registration, participating in all aspects of design, and taking a major role in dissemination of the results both within the Commission and to outside bodies.
