Results and Impact The second Regulating for Decent Work Conference 'Regulating for a Fair Recovery' (July 2011) was organised by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in collaboration with the University of Manchester's Fairness at Work Research Group (FaW) and the University of Melbourne's Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law (CELRL). The conference attracted 250+ academics from developed and less developed countries, from law, economics, industrial relations, development studies, sociology, psychology and geography. Many members of the ILO's policy staff participated in the conference.

The FaW Research Group, which includes the organisers of the 'Fairness at Work' seminar series, contributed to the conference's research agenda through serving as a co-chair of the conference (Dr Deirdre McCann, School of Law) and on the steering committee (Dr Helge Hoel, Professor Jill Rubery) and FaW's responsibility for organising one of the Conference's four tracks: 'Fairness at Work after the Crisis' which attracted contributions from research on recent developments at workplace level in regulation, process and practices regarding fairness in the workplace. Fifteen members of FaW attended the conference and presented nine papers. Dr Hoel organised a plenary session on workplace bullying with keynotes from academics from Norway and Canada and a discussant from the European Commission. A suite of academic commentaries on 'fairness at work' were filmed under the banner of the ESRC 'Fairness at Work' seminar series (led by Professor Jackie O'Reilly), and were subsequently disributed as one of the outputs of the series. FaW hosted a reception attended by more than 175 conference participants where FaW's research publications were promoted.

The FaW group continue their involvement with the ILO and are contributing to the organisation of the third Regulating for Decent Work Conference (Geneva, July 2013).
