Results and Impact Invited presentation to the Countryside Recreation Network (CRN), a UK and Eire network of government/public agencies responsible for managing the outdoor environment for recreation and leisure.



The Countryside Recreation Network (CRN) Agency Meeting on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th January 2011 was held in Natural England Sheffield Offices, England, Hosted by Natural England and the Peak District National Park. The Theme was: Way forward in the light of the priorities of the UK Government.



My invited presentation was on research relating to Health and Access to the Outdoor Environment, including a description of the work and outcomes of the Outdoors Health and Wellbeing network.

Results and Impact EuroParc Health & Protected Areas Working Group. Presentation to Finnish and Swedish members of this group (Metsähallitus - Natural Heritage Services and Nordic-Baltic Section of Europarc) as part of their study tour to Scotland. The purpose of the study tour was to gain an understanding of policies and programmes in Scotland, and to have discussions about possible partnerships for the proposed EU funding bid.



The author presented work from OPENspace research centre, including that relating to the Outdoor Health Network, and pointed to the OHN website where more information was available.



Presentation on OPENspace research centre and Outdoor Health Network research and outcomes, for EuroParc Health & Protected Areas Working Group. Purpose of visit - to discuss evidence on the physical and mental health benefits of access to the outdoors and contact with nature and identify ways to develop partnerships between the environmental and health sectors. The policy context, and work that is developing in Scotland, is regarded as an example of good practice.
