| Description | This was a Public Sector placement fellowship aimed to improve the use of evidence from the behavioural sciences in policy design and delivery. The work involved surveying existing applications of behavioural science to policy across Government, and the setting up of a Behavioural Science in Government network to enable those engaged in policy design and delivery to share practice. |
| Exploitation Route | The work highlighted a number of key factors that can be taken forward by policy makers, specifically the benefits of sharing practice on the application of behavioural science to policy, and the importance of employing robust evaluation strategies in growing the evidence base on behaviourally informed policy interventions. |

| Description | This placement involved working across Government with members of the Government Economics Service (GES) and the Government Social Research Service (GSR) to increase capacity on the application of behavioural science to the design and delivery of public policy. As part of the Fellowship, I was responsible for initiating a Behavioural Science in Government Network, and for collating an inventory of past behaviour change research and interventions. These initiatives addressed a serious need for improvement in sharing of knowledge and good practices both within and between government departments, in order to improve the evidence base for future policy development. The clear impact of my work in Government, was reflected in both the final report of the House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee inquiry into Behaviour Change , which praised my work and the Behavioural Science in Government Network that I was responsible for setting up, and in the Government Response to this report, which recognised the worth of the Network and pledged to continue it beyond my Fellowship. |
