Support for a FACS Cell Sorter at the University of Leicester

Lead Research Organisation: University of Leicester
Department Name: UNLISTED

Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Technical Summary

The University of Leicester was awarded £536K for a FACS cell sorter. There is a major and urgent need across researchers in Medical and Biological Sciences and the MRC Toxicology Unit at Leicester for this equipment, which can be used to physically isolate specific cell types from heterogenous cell populations in translational projects. The availability of a new system is crucial to the success of several areas of translational research, most notably the development of stem cell technology. In addition, as a core facility it will significantly enhance the output of a number of ongoing research projects.
