Lead Research Organisation: University College London
Department Name: UNLISTED

Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Technical Summary

UCL were awarded #797K for scientists and support staff, targeted towards the delivery of UCLs translational strategy. These posts include staff to assist with UCLs (a) Translational Research office (b) Computational and Systems Medicine Theme (c) Biomarker pathway.

Title Biospecimen repository management and searchable database
Description The Biospecimen repository management and Research Database are being developed with Canadian company, Genologics to support biobanking across UCL. The Biospecimen repository management system will allow registration and tracking of samples and associated data within the biobank facility. The Research Database, is web-accessible to allow researchers across the Globe to identify sample holdings and thus initiate collaborative research.
Type Of Material Improvements to research infrastructure
Year Produced 2010
Provided To Others? Yes
Impact The biobank repository management and research database software is now being tested at the Royal Free Biobank to register and track samples and associated data within the facility.

Title Centralised Biobank facilities.
Description Two Human Tissue Authority licensed physical repositories: Royal Free Biobank, Cancer Institute and Pathology Biobank. These centralised facilities provide a range of services, procedure and regulatory advice to support researchers collecting human samples across UCL.
