Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Technical Summary

We continue to conduct research in other topic areas and methodology which is of particular relevance to primary care.|CACHE (Clopidogrel versus Aspirin in Chronic Heart Failure) is designed to ascertain whether the mortality rate of patients with heart failure, who are receiving standard medical therapies including diuretics and are in sinus rhythm, is lower in those prescribed clopidogrel 75mg/day than aspirin 75mg/day. In addition, the study will investigate the differences in effects on quality of life, worsening heart failure and hospitalisation rates in the two trial arms.|OPEN (Older People and Enhanced Neurocognitive Function) is designed to assess the effect of increased dietary intake of vitamin B12 in older people with low vitamin B12 levels.|Diabetes UK is designed to contribute to improving the quality of care for patients with diabetes cared for in primary care by identifying the features of individuals, teams of doctors and nurses and organisational factors that are associated with high quality care.|Knowledge Translation to support the Dissemination and Implementation of Public Health and Health Services Research has sought to identify what is known about what works. Both primary and secondary research methods were used to explore current practice of knowledge transfer in MRC and major academic units across the UK.|Help Seeking Behaviour is designed to inform the development of theoretically (and empirically) driven interventions to achieve appropriate help-seeking for people who experience either headache and back pain.|Recruitment to and Attrition from Randomised trials is designed to review effective interventions to reduce attrition within RCTs.|Also included in the programme is the Stroke Survey.
