| Description | The report identified the different barriers to engagement amongst three BME communities in Kingston, Muslim, Korean and Tamil. It also explored in detail issues faced by young Muslims in Britain in the wake of the heightened concern with radicalisation and terrorism, and the way the latter lead to disengagement and alienation. |

| Description | Our findings were submitted in a report to the Metropolitan Police in Kingston who disseminated the report to other stakeholders (the Safer Kingston Partnership and partners at the Royal Borough of Kingston). The report informed working policies and training. On the basis of the findings we also organised a series of community workshops (attended by police officers, community workers and residents) and training sessions for Kingston policer officers., |

| Results and Impact | a series pif workshops held throughout Kingston Borough (6) to share the findings of the research with local stakeholders and to stimulate thinking about community and barriers to engagement. Representative from different communities, community workers and police officers shared their views and entered into discussion about barriers to local engagement. During the sessions participants shared knowledge and reflected on their practices/working practices and how they might be influenced by assumptions. |
