Lead Research Organisation:
University of Oxford
Department Name: Oxford Physics
Abstract
The nature of the dark matter in the Universe is of scientific and general public interest. Understanding what the majority of the matter density is would advance mankind's knowledge and satify everyone's desire for understanding the world around us. This grant will allow UK researchers to participate in the exploitation phase of the EDELWEISS experiment, a dark matter seach located in the Modane underground laboratory in a road tunnel between France and Italy.
Planned Impact
This grant allows UK researchers access to the EDELWEISS experiment and engage in data analysis. This activity will support the training of highly skilled graduate students in areas highly sought after [track record in this] skills in software and firmware development.
