Abstract
The Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (CPOM) is a research centre that studies processes in the Earth's polar latitudes that may affect the Earth's albedo, polar atmosphere and ocean circulation, and global sea level. We use theoretical and laboratory-derived understanding to form new mesoscale models of interactions between the ice, ocean and atmosphere, and use ground and satellite observations to test the predictions of these and other climate models

Description | Sentinel-3 validation team |
Organisation | European Space Agency |
Country | France |
Sector | Public |
PI Contribution | Membership of validation team contributing to expertise in ice sheet altimetry. |
Collaborator Contribution | Technical, mission and operational expertise in altimetry. |
Impact | We have evaluated the geophysical content of Sentinel-3 commissioning phase retrievals and the geophysical quality of Sentinel-3a altimetry data over land and sea ice, including independent validation using other satellite and airborne measurements. We will continue with further validation and advisory activities, and undertake early analysis of Sentinel-3b data during the satellite commissioning phase.
