Modelling Suspension Spray

Lead Research Organisation: University of Nottingham
Department Name: Faculty of Engineering

Abstract

Suspension Solution Thermal Spray coating methods are a relatively new revelation within Engineering. Coatings allow for us to better design material specifications for their purpose. This however is a very complex problem to model due the problem spilling over into physical, thermal and chemical territories. So little work has been done in developing a complete computational and numerical model within this subject. Throughout my project, I am going to look to develop a complete model that incorporates the thermal, physical, fluid and chemical aspects of the process. I am also going to consider validating my model to ensure the model closely resembles experimental observations. This project is going to look to take advantage of advances in computational developments and CFD techniques so that we can we produce an inexpensive tool to thermal spray.
