The development of nanostructured materials as multifunctional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) contrast agents
Lead Research Organisation:
University College London
Department Name: Chemistry
Abstract
The project will involve the development of nanostructured materials as multifunctional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) contrast agents for medical applications in the emerging field of 'theranostics' (the dual capability of therapeutics and diagnostics on a single platform). The student will gain expertise in inorganic nanoparticle synthetic techniques, bioconjugation and the use of a variety of analytical techniques, including, but not limited to, relaxometry, clinical MRI and electron microscopy.
