New Approaches to Branched Polymer Synthesis

Lead Research Organisation: University of Liverpool
Department Name: Chemistry

Abstract

The synthesis of branched polymers has been a subject of much international interest for many years. Throughout this project a novel strategy for forming novel branched polymers will be studied. The strategy utilises orthogonal chemistry to create branched polymers using industrially scalable techniques and the synthetic approach will be fundamentally understood to allow fine tuning of conditions, whilst the resulting polymers will be characterised and studied for novel behaviour. During the project, input from industry will be sought to fully assess the potential impact for materials value and future exploitation.
